4th meeting in Lithuania started from 21st of March to 25th.
Meeting in Lithuania was based on creating a video clip, which was made from all the partners’ schools students.
At the first our meeting day we met our partners at Marijampoles VET center. It has started with ice-breaking activities, a greeting from the director and symbolic gifts for the partners – branch cakes. We are very happy to have had the opportunity to receive so many guests from other countries. During the meeting, we presented our goal for the meeting – a video about the cultural heritage of the partner countries, with the song “We are the world” (USA for Africa) recorded by our students playing in the background. We had discussion how we got on, what challenges we faced and what it gave us.
We were proud to be able to introduce our partners to our school’s training centres, classrooms, equipment and sectoral practical training centres. After a tour of the school and a hearty lunch in the school canteen, we went to explore our beautiful city – Marijampolė. We visited the region’s cultural and historical heritage, churches and street paintings. The history teacher gave the partners a better insight into the history of the city.
On the morning of 22 March, we started our journey to Kaunas – the European Capital of Culture. As well as visiting churches, panoramas and the spectacular Old Town, we also had a workshop and cooked lunch in the Lithuanian Culinary Heritage canteen laboratory. We prepared ancient Lithuanian dishes – cepelinai. A visit to 9th Fort of the Kaunas Fortress, where mass killings took place during the war, was also very impressive. It is an indescribable pain and a horrible history.
On 23rd of March, we started the morning with a trip to the Lithuanian seaside. After taking a ferry to the Curonian Spit, we visited the Sea Museum, where we were able to learn about the history of the area and observe the lives of the animals. The Curonian Spit excursion was wonderful – we visited the city under the sand, Nida city, Parnidis dunes, the sundial, Nida Catholic Church, UNESCO memorials, the lighthouse. Then we went back to Klaipėda, stayed in a hotel, walked around the city, got to know it and had some free time.
After meeting the morning of 24th of March in Klaipėda, we set off for Palanga – one of Lithuania’s most popular seaside resorts. After visiting the Amber Museum and the sites around it, we had lunch and headed back to Marijampolė, where we had a group dinner at the hotel restaurant in the evening.
25th of March is the last day of our meeting. On Friday morning we left for Vilnius, where on the way we visited Trakai, the old capital of Lithuania, had lunch at a local restaurant, where ate the traditional dish “kibinai” and attended the certificate award ceremony next to the Trakai Castle. Upon reaching Vilnius, we had an excursion of its Old Town, visiting the proud Gediminas Tower, Vilnius University and other UNESCO cultural heritage sites.
On 26th of March Saturday all partners left Lithuania. The next and last meeting of the project will take place in Latvia, with the aim of making a video for VR glasses
